Meet Ron Harrill
Ron is a historian, author, and lecturer focused on the history of Africa and its people. With over 30 years of volunteer experience in education, he has served as a mentor, lecturer, coach, and community advocate. He has visited over 150 groups, promoting cultural awareness on Africa's true history, and has written more than 200 poems and four plays. Additionally, he is the co-founder and board member of the Community Math Academy, which offers full summer scholarships for middle and elementary school students in Cleveland County to enhance their math skills.
Ron Harrill
A graduate of North Carolina A&T State University, Ron worked for 33 years at Wachovia Bank (now Wells Fargo) in Charlotte, NC, before retiring. He has contributed to several local initiatives, including serving on the Cleveland County United Way Board of Directors and the Closing the Achievement Gap Advisory Committee for Cleveland County Schools. He is also a past chairman of the Cleveland County Arts Council. He is married to Denise Harrill, and they reside in Shelby with their three sons.
